• I liked the whole case. There is a reliable edge around the central camera unit, even a very high edge above the screen, all the necessary slots, a duplicated volume control key and a cutout for the Type-C port, in general, with a protective cover—which is rare.

Design, Materials And Assembly

• In 2022 Xiaomi, in all its own and subsidiary lines, puts flat design in fashion today. Flat side panels, flat back covers. It looks impressive; nothing to say here.
• And the design of the back panel is also impressive – a large “pedestal” for the camera unit almost the entire width of the phone, with beautiful reflections in the light, which you can see in the photo and video below. • The panel, by the way, is glass and shiny. What type of glass will use – the manufacturer does not specify. But its oleophobic coating is decent; fingerprints are visible but don’t get in the eyes and don’t spoil the phone’s appearance.
• But I can’t say the similar about the Gorilla Glass 5 protective glass front panel – it smudged a lot.
• From the front, the smartphone looks good – minimal bezels on the sides, a neat cutout for the show in the centre, and even the chin doesn’t stick out too much.

Poco X4 Pro Screen

• No wonder the Poco X4 Pro received the same screen as the Redmi Note 11 Pro – a 6.67-inch AMOLED DotDisplay with FHD+ resolution (2400×1080 pixels), 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support and high brightness: Default 700 nits and peak 1200 nits.
• It is a pretty cool screen for a mid-range smartphone. 4500000:1 contrast, DCI-P3 colour space compliance, high refresh rate and maximum brightness level, thanks to which everything is evident in the sun – you will not dream of anything else. In addition, the minimum brightness turned out to be very comfortable, and you can look at the screen without discomfort in complete darkness.
• Viewing angles are traditionally very wide, but the “pain” of AMOLEDs in the form of white-coloured pink-green overflows in sharp deviations from the usual viewing angle has gone nowhere.
• The display’s colour reproduction is directly dependent on the selected mode and can automatically adapt to the content or always be saturated or more natural and neutral.

Screen

• The 120 Hz refresh rate is also a big plus. In addition, all system animations, scrolling in default and many third-party programs, as well as the interface on this screen, looks as smooth as possible.
• It’s worth noting that there are only two modes to choose from 120 Hz or the classic 60 Hz. The settings have no middle option, but the first one is dynamic. Thus, some parts of the programs, even in 120 Hz mode, will be displayed with 60 Hz. For example, it could be some static state. Agree that increasing the frequency when viewing a photo or video is unnecessary, and here everything works approximately in this way.
• From the settings, you can change the system theme (light/dark), reading mode, colour scheme with three profiles and the possibility to change the colour temperature, refresh rate option, text size and autorotation. In addition, the Always On Display function will configure separately – displaying the clock, date and messages on the off-screen.
• It’s nice, of course, that AoD is on the smartphone and is mainly customizable, but it can only display within 10 seconds of tapping. You don’t have to work according to a schedule, nor a constant display, so it’s not like “Always”.

Poco X4 Pro performance

The Snapdragon 695 5G chipset powers the Poco X4 Pro 5G. As already mentioned, compared to the Snapdragon 860-based X3 Pro model, this is a substantial simplification, but there are a lot of limitations. Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G runs on the same processor, which Dmytro Koval criticized in his review. It’s probably for lack of chips, and now smartphones are usually installed with what’s available, not what you want.

The 695nm Snapdragon 6 platform includes eight processor cores: 2 Kryo 660 Gold cores run at a maximum clock frequency of up to 2.2 GHz, and the remaining 6 Kryo 660 Silver cores run at a clock frequency of up to 1.7 GHz. Adreno 619 acts as a graphics accelerator.
